In the Member's Article written by David Askham he refers to the Leica compact cameras. These are made by Panasonic and Panasonic are stopping production of many of these cameras because of the impact of smart phones.

The cameras affected are:
The Leica C-Lux (a rebadged version of the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200/TZ200)
The Leica D-Lux 7 (based on Panasonic's Lumix DC-LX100 II)
The Leica V-Lux 5 (based on the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 II).

Panasonic are moving production facilities across to their G, GH and S series of cameras with interchangeable lenses.
If you are thinking of one of the Leica versions of the above cameras you may find them increasingly difficult to buy new.

Photo comment By David Askham: The second paragraph is not strictly correct. The Leica X-series was not co-produced with Panasonic, nor even Fuji long before. The Leica X-series is still available, occasionally, in the pre-owned market. I do agree that it will be a loss having no more new sub-fullframe Leicas in future.
