President's Page
We are creating a President's Page so he or she can update members directly. Here are Cled's messages.
New Members
18 July, 2025
Since our updated website was introduced it appears to have been very successful in attracting new members to the Fellowship.
Whereas in the previous year we have welcomed individuals, one of whom, Andrew, attended our Spring meeting at Hinckley and thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, within six days recently we have welcomed three more new members to the Fellowship and this should not go without comment.
As President I would like to formally welcome David Phillips, Douglas Richardson and Philip Rigby to the Leica Fellowship.
Philip has already contributed an article to the website which was very well received and I can do no better than the comment by Alan Humphries.
“For me one of the greatest benefits of belonging to the LF has been the friendships I have made over the years, I hope you have the same experience”.
We all feel the same and trust that you will all feel the same way too.
May 2024
It seems ages since I wrote something for this page as so much has happened over the last year.
Ken has looked after the website since April 2023 as the new webmaster and Gareth the newsletter since April 2024, both making a vital contribution to the Fellowship.
The website has a worldwide following as evidenced by a prospective member from New York recently.
We have had over 68,000 hits in the last two years which illustrates how many people follow the Fellowship website.
The newsletter continues as a source of information for those not versed in the internet and both sources provide a wealth of information for members who for various reasons can’t attend our regular meetings.
Both Ken and Gareth are valuable members of the Council who with Anne, Keith, Hugh, Tony and Pam ensure the continuity of the Fellowship with your support.
As you are aware, our conference organiser Tony (ably assisted by Sally) has given notice that he will stand down at the next AGM but we are assured of another three meetings already arranged, Worksop, Swindon and Llanelli.
Our weekends have been subject to increased costs since Covid but Llanelli was chosen because it is situated in a beautiful area with many photographic opportunities and importantly, a very competitive cost.
We will have to address the lack of a Conference organiser at the next AGM but I would urge you all to consider the way forward.
It is a measure of the success of the Fellowship that we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary in the Spring of next year and our meetings are a major contribution to this success.
However, we know that half of our membership rely on the newsletter and website to remain in contact and look forward to every new edition. I would like to thank those members who regularly support the website and the newsletter because their contribution is invaluable.

Cled's Message As Our New President.
June 2023
I was honoured and proud to have been elected as President of the Leica Fellowship at the AGM at Llandrindod Wells in the Spring of 2023 and it is fitting that I contribute to the revised edition of the website which is taking shape and will be developed during 2024.
It is a new era which recognises the part played by the Internet in virtually every sphere now and it is our intention to develop the website to keep Membership informed of the latest news. It is not intended to replace the Newsletter but to augment it. The newsletter is only produced four times a year and a website is immediate and we can keep members informed much more frequently.
Obviously an attractive website will hopefully attract new members.
My first duty as President is to wish you all, Members and potential members a Happy and Healthy New Year on behalf of myself and the Council.
It would be inexcusable if I did not draw attention to the tremendous effort put in to developing the revised website, led by Ken Davis and ably supported by David Askham with contributions from Hugh Elliott and Bryan Gilbert.
It has been months in planning and execution and demanded a commitment to bring it to fruition.
We have been encouraged by the increased number of visits to the website and it is our intention to make it as interesting as possible.
Please recognise that, notwithstanding the effort that has been put into developing the website, its success depends entirely on the support of members and I encourage you all to get involved.
Best Wishes
Cled Lewis.
