During The Weekend Gerald Stone will give details of the next proposed trip the Leica factory in Wetzlar:
I am proposing the next trip to the Leica factory in Wetzlar and am currently starting to make the arrangements. The plan is to travel to Wetzlar on a Monday early in May 2026, spend a few days on the Leica Campus with lectures, visiting the mush enlarged Leica Welt Museum, We will try to see other on-site attractions including a factory tour.
The we will travel to Berlin for a couple of days, returning to the UK on the Saturday.
I don’t have definite dates yet as they depend on the factory’s availability, however if the circumstances are what they were last time, a maximum number for the party would be about a dozen but this is slightly flexible within reason.
I have a number of people who have already expressed an interest in this tour but there are a few spaces left, so if there is any member who would like to join this expedition, please get in touch as soon as possible and certainly by the end of the Worksop week-end.
The usual rules of engagement apply i.e. -:
Everyone makes their own travel arrangements - as I’m sure you all know by now, I shall go by train;
All hotel bills will be settled individually on departure, but I will make the appropriate reservations both at the Ernst Leitz Hotel in Wetzlar and at a still to be determined hotel in Berlin.
I am currently in discussions with the Leica Store Berlin about this and about things to see while we’re there;
Everyone makes their own travel insurance arrangements.
I can advise on methods of travel, train times etc. but not flight details should you wish to fly but I believe Hugh knows more about this side of things.
I should have more definite details on dates by the Worksop meeting so we can discuss stuff there.
I want to start discussions with the staff at the Duke Street centre concerning our annual visit. I would be grateful if the membership could let me know by the end of the Worksop week-end how many of you would be interested in joining that visit so that I can give Leica an approximate number of likely attendees.
I hope this is all clear - feel free to contact me on the numbers or e-mail below but I would like to impose a closure date of the day we break-up from the Worksop week-end. I’ll look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kindest regards and thanks for your indulgence.
Gerald
