Keith Walker - The Dorset Coast
This is the second part of my Dorset Coast article, I will remind you of the 'story'.
As a youth, the coast was just the coast to enjoy. Swimming, fishing (especially night fishing), coves to explore on our bikes and later sailing; just fun.
If you drive around Dorset now, it is impossible not to see numerous signs proclaiming the “Jurassic Coast’. As kids we knew fossils had been found especially at Lyme Regis, but the coast was just the coast, and the Jurassic pre-fix was unknown. If we turn to Wikipedia it tells us “The Jurassic Coast, also known as the Dorset and East Devon Coast, is a World Heritage Site on the English Channel coast of southern England. It stretches from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset, a distance of about 96 miles, and was inscribed on the World Heritage List in mid-December 2001.”
Over the years it is fact that a number of locations on the Dorset coast have appeared in lists of top UK locations for photography, often involving a sunrise. As an example, the beach at Durdle Door will be crowded with photographers on the one morning a year when our ‘The Photographers Ephemeris” (TPE App-free to download) tells us the sun will rise through the ‘door’.
All these years on the coast is still delivering fun, but for a different pastime as I capture it photographically. The images that follow were all taken on various digital M’s.

By Alan Humphries: Last week I said that I was looking forward to Part 2 Keith have not disappointed another really super set of images . Although it is not one of yours it was really good that you slipped in the one of Swanage Pier, we often see images of the remanent. To see it is a working pier was really treat. Thank you. The shot of Swanage Pier was taken by me one day went I went there with Paul for a ride on the Railway. There happened to be two old style craft moored at the end of the Pier so I thought I would do a Francis Frith treatment with a sepia tone. By Don Morley: I certainly echo Alan's comments about that wonderful old shot of Swanage Pier in addition to my greatly enjoying Keith'own superb pictures, especially the one of The Cob at Lyme Regis which I think is the best picture I have ever seen of it, and within which the figures are so important, and I also particularily like the shot of Weymouth Harbour. Both being places I also know yet never manaaged to photograph nearly so well as Keith has done. By David Askham: My preference is for colour in landscapes, but with the inclusion of the tall masts in 'Swanage pier', I like the period feeling invoked by the rendering in monochrome.
