Photo comment By Don Morley: It is quite a few years now since the stary of the Leica L alliance ith Sigma and panasonic etc. So now for instance Panasonic provide most of Leica's electronics and swap lens technology, Sigma make several Leica branded lenses in Japan and Fuji make the entire Leica Sofort system, so isn't it time the Leica Fellowship recognised this and dropped such as the internal Competition reqirement all pictures entered must have been taken with either a Leica camera or specifically Leica branded lens? Am ure more would join us if the Fellowship and its competitions were open to all. Don
Photo comment By dennis Steel: I purchased my first Leica camera in 2002 and when I completed the course at Milton Keynes I joined the Leica Fellowship. Since then I have enjoyed likeminded people at the Fellowship meets and have learnt a great deal about Leica camera and lenses, long may it continue .I do not want to see work produced by other makes of cameras, I see that at my local camera club and only want see work produced by Leica cameras and lenses. I think it was a smart move from Leica to join the "L" mount alliance, it gave Leica enthusiast an opportunity to use more lenses that Leica did not produce, which is a good thing. The Leica Fellowship had a ballot a few years ago about non Leica pictures being used in competitions. the result from the members was overwhelmingly in favour of Leica l lenses pictures only. I do not think it would increase the membership by any camera makes / lens entering the competitions, in fact the reverse would happen, the silent majority of the Leica Fellowship would leave and no one wants that
Photo comment By Cled Lewis: We are inviting people to join The Fellowship now if they are interested in Leica. If they attend our weekend meetings then I imagine they are keen to participate even If they have not yet acquired a Leica. I don’t think we should bar them from entering our competition as there won’t be many, if any at all non Leica photos so we need not worry. Cled
