Some Pictures About Spring - Ken Davis

Spring Is Here – Ken Davis

I used to say that all seasons except high summer are photographically attractive but as I've got older I agree with my wife, Joan that Spring is my favourite. I assume it's the colourful regrowth of the flora in the garden and in the wild that awakens the soul after weeks of dull days and many rainy ones too.

So, out come the cameras to try to capture the feeling. Daffodils start this sequence along with their cousins, narcissus.

A camellia adds such a variety of subtle colours that I hope the single bloom displays.

Forsythia adds so much brightness to the hedges where it grows and I love the new leaves of trees as they appear.

I walk along this lane frequently and now the new growth is filling the trees.

Back to the garden and primulas add attractive bunches to flower beds.

However there are still rainy days when cameras and I stay in but there's still photographic opportunities capturing the rain on the window with a buddleia behind.

Celandine is carpeting the hedgerows near to our house at the moment with their simple, bright flowers.

Our flowering currants look good at this time of year.

Finally some dandelions, we see these as weeds but they are attractive flowers that are important for insect life.

I've put the cameras used in the titles, so Panasonic GX8 and the FX1000 are versatile ones for these subjects. A Leica TL2 with a 60mm Macro Elmar R Series attached to it has given some good results as well.
Film cameras have also been used including my R9 and I've pressed an Exakta Varex VX1000 into service with its close focussing lenses but I'll have to wait to see the results after the films are processed.

On a different subject, I always loved taking transparencies through all the years of this hobby but now I've stopped. At about £25 to £30 a roll plus £10 processing (and then I have to mount them) it's too expensive.
